Kharal
Kharal have descended from Agnivanshi Panwar Rajput They live mainly in Sandal Bar in the Punjab,Pakistan. The hero of the romantic poem Mirza Sahiban, Mirza, was a Kharal and is known as MirzaJat throughout the Punjab region. The king maker Rai Makhan Khan Kharal(Late) also belonged to this tribe. He was a great landholder and famous in the Punjab region. He lived in village Chokery Kharlan district Nankana Sahib.and also in the central punjab sargodha region is very rich about this tribe. GR Khan Veroana from 712GB is very famous personality from this tribe.
Kharals claim descent from the legendary Raja Karan of the Mahabharata, whose descendant, Bhupa, came to Uch Sharif in the 13th century, where he, along with his son Kharral, were converted to Islamby Makhdoom Jahanian Shah. From Uch, the Kharrals spread over the countryside around the Ravi River. Now they are living in District,Vehari, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Hafizabad, Okara, Nankana_Sahib, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala,Bahawal Nagar, Chistian,SANDHILIANWALI.
Kharrals have the following sub-divisions:Veroana,Sher kay, Chakarkay, Nuwekay, Rubera, Madhool,Gugera, Bhandara, Chera, Sahi, Peroka, Saboka, Jaloka, Bashera, Purbera, Kalera,, Lakhwera,Ransinh, Dheerokay, Shameerkay, Lai and Jalabkay etc.( Like the Sials, they were at first mainly a pastoral tribe but in the 14th century, Kamal Khan refounded an old town which has been identified by General James Cunningham as one of the strongholds of Malli captured by Alexander The Great. It was named Kot Kamalia in honour of Kamal Khan.
The Lakhwera clan was never numerically strong but it attained certain amount of importance during the reign of Aurangzeb, when Saadat Yar Khan, the then chief of Kamalia, obtained a fief/jagir from the Emperor. It was at this time that Walidad Sial overran Kamalia and settled the Mardana and Tarhana Sials on the Ravi.Nawab Saadat Ali Khan was called the "king of Sandal Bar" He was very generous and kind hearted man.He ruled Kamalia till 1947 partition. Some of the Kharals moved towards Vehari,Multan, Faisalabad, and Hafizabad, and then further south to Sindh. The Chakarka clan of kharal are decendents of RAI CHAKAR,who had fought against English during their compaingn to rule India.owing to it he was deprived of his vast Jagir near RIVER RAVI.Now a days majority of this clan is residind at Kaku District Okara, Punjab. *************Shakeel Anjum**************
